Sooryavanshi is a remake of Hindi movie called Soekool. Katrina Kaif plays Sameer, who finds herself in love with Ajit, a tough guy. She is good with men but not good enough with another girl named Mukesh, played by Hrithik Roshan. The two are best friends and have a close relationship that blossoms when Sameer falls in love with Mukesh.
The movie has received warm welcome by critics. The story and acting are superb. Well the story is about a girl who falls in love with a boy and ends up marrying him only to find out that he is involved in some questionable activities. The movie then depicts Sameer and Mukesh as criminals, while explaining why they were trapped in this situation to begin with.
As the story unfolds, Sookool takes an unexpected turn. Merely watching the two girls, it is easy to appreciate why they get into trouble. However, the film does take some interesting twists that make the viewer think, which is more often than not what a movie should do. The dialogues and storyline are all done in a fast pace, which is refreshing for the movies that we see these days. Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar, two of India’s most popular faces, play the lead roles.
Akshay is played by Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif is played by Katrina. They are cousins and look alike, as well as have the same name. Soongool is initially in the business of shipping and transiting goods from one state to another. Once he realizes that Mukesh and Sameer are in love with each other, he gets them a ship and leaves for India to deliver his cargo. On the way, he gets stuck in an ocean storm and Sameer loses her hand.
A distress call is made to the ship on which Akshay and Katrina are staying and they are saved by some US Navy personnel who were on their way to India. The ship is renamed ‘Resolution’ and is now used to ferry tourists to the country. It soon becomes apparent that the couple are stranded on this ship due to the storm and they decide to go back home. While making their way back, they fall off the ship and Akshay damages his leg. After getting the help of an Indian doctor, Akshay recovers completely and Katrina comes to India to visit him.
Sookool’s character is very different from the original character in the movie. He is a drug dealer and makes friends with Katrina while helping her escape. The two of them start to date and Akshay decides to marry Katrina. The movie is a romantic comedy and was directed by Shimit Amin.
Akshay is depicted as a typical young Indian boy in movies. The relationship between him and Katrina is depicted as the typical story of young love. As much as we can derive entertainment from stories of love and betrayal, Akshay’s character is no different. Though the movie has many entertaining scenes, the writer does not share enough emotions to make the audience connect with him. Some scenes do show Akshay’s emotional pain and this makes the audience empathize with him, but the love story is left for the viewers to decide.
The movie has received positive response from both the critics and audience. The movie was recently released in India and has so far grossed Rs 452 Crores. Directed by Shimit Amin, Sookool is expected to achieve even greater success in the international film industry. So, if you are looking for an excellent action hero with an exotic love story then Sookool is a great choice. If you are planning a trip to India this summer then I would look for Sookool along with Katrina Kaif in the leading cast.
